Goa IT Day 2018

Department of Information Technology, Govt. of Goa celebrated Goa IT Day on 14th and 15th July 2018 at Inox Panaji-Goa. The event was inaugurated by Shri Manohar Parrikar, Hon’ble Chief Minister along with Shri Rohan Khaunte, Minister IT, Shri Dharmendra Sharma, IAS, Chief Secretary, Shri Ameya Abhyankar, IAS, Secretary IT, Shri TV Mohandas Pai, Chairman Manipal Global Education and other dignitaries.
I being follower of developments in IT Sector attended the event leaving the school half day. The IT day 2018 had in it launch of Goa IT Policy, Ecosystem Talks from the top IT/ITeS Stackholders, Panel Discussions and Skilling Workshops. The IT Day saw representatives from corporates, media and Govt. come together and celebrate the spirit of IT, Innovation and Skilling. There were relevant keynotes, gripping fireside chats, lively panel sessions throw out the day.



After the inauguration there was Panel discussion on ‘Rethinking governance with a digital economy’ moderated by Shradha Sharma, CEO of YourStory (@yourstoryco). Shri Manohar Parrikar, Hon’ble Chief Minister along with Shri Rohan Khaunte, Minister IT with Shri TV Mohandas Pai, Participated in the Panel discussion. Hon’ble CM said that talent of Goa is ‘driving the engine.’ Of IT Sector in Pune and Bengaluru and that state’s new Information Technology Policy aims at retaining talent in Goa. IT Minister said that coding will be taught in Colleges and Institutes as young crowd has lot of untapped capability. Shri TV Mohandas Pai said that if Goa wants to become an IT hub, students should be taught at least some basic coding. Shri Jervis Pereira leading Toastmaster compared the function. I watched the function on my legs as the hall was jam packed.
This was followed by Informative Talk on How India can be a $ 10 trillion economy by 2030 by Shri TV Mohandas Pai. While taking volley of questions after talk I was invited to share stage with speakers. My heart leaped with joy while my name was called by Shradha Sharma. My modest introduction about work was reciprocated with thunderous loud of applaud. I received pat of appreciation from Shri TV Mohandas Pai and Shri Rohan Khaunte, Minister IT. I will cherish this moment forever.
